Let them know you realize

that life goes fast....

It does. Moments whip by in a blink of an eye.

I'm a bit preoccupied right now, my grandfather is dying. He's drowning in his lungs which are full of cancer. I'm distraught about it. I want to tell you just what my grandparents mean to me, but I'm too exhausted right now.

We went to see him yesterday, he looks so awful. And, his brain is still all there. And as a doctor, he knows this is the end. And it is a terrible end. I almost died on the spot when D promised him he'd look after both of us girls for him.

Go listen to the flaming lips and think about these lyrics:
Do you realize, that everyone you know some day will die? And instead of saying all of your goodbyes let them know you realize that life goes fast, it's hard to make the good times last, you realize the sun doesn't go's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round.

Go hug the people you love and let them know you realize they won't be here forever, and let them know how much you love them right this very second.

The tears!

Well, Cheeky Chops had her two week pedi appointment today. She already hates the pedi. She's now weighing in at 9 lbs 8 oz! And has put on an inch in length (to 22 inches). So obviously, she's feeding well. She's a good baby. But, the tears! She was doing really well until they did yet another heel prick, poor little mite. She cried huge tears. It broke my heart.

She will really hate the pedi after the next appointment (2 months) as she'll be getting her jabs then.

Tomorrow we are going to Jc Penney's for pictures! HA! We got a "no sitting fee" membership for two years as a baby present, and so I'm taking her in for posed cheezy shots. We've got plenty of family that still prefers "real" photos to digital, so maybe we can do this every few months or so. We were going to go do it today, but both Nell and Mum were worn out from the appointment this morning (not to mention a bit of a fussy night).

When Nell is super hungry or super mad (which is usually only when she's super hungry), she chirps. Not like a bird mind you, but like a baby crocodile chirps for its mum.

It makes my heart melt.

Gotta Brag

Well, let me just say to start...I'm a chunky girl. I am. I was working on it before I got up the duff, but, let's just put it out there...I'm not delicate.

And remember, I threw up for the first five months.

That being said, I gained 24 lbs during the pregnancy. Most of those in the last 4 weeks when I was making like a puffer fish.

As of my 2 week appointment with the OB today? I've lost 30 lbs since Nell was born. Yay! I'm down 6 lbs! Hurrah.

Now I can get back on track for the weight loss I was trying to achieve pre-pregnancy. Hurrah.

Now, more brags, on the Nell front. I'm convinced that she's the most gorgeous-est of babies ever (of course, as every mum does). But, I'm also convinced that she's quite clever...she already smiles cheekily at us, knows how to suck her own hands, and in general is becoming more and more interested in the world around her.

She also is a champion farter. Sheesh. Poor little mite, she was up for a few hours last night with painful intestines.....I was tired/dying for sleep, but couldn't help but feel sorry for her instead of being frustrated that she wasn't going back to sleep. She'd let rip with a big one, and then pass out for about 20 minutes, until the gas bothered her again.

I'm reading up on what could be causing her so much distress (eliminating things from my diet, though truthfully, I'm not eating a lot of different things...and not eating a lot in general...I'm also trying different things with how long she nurses and whether or not to switch breasts mid feed). I've also tried some little tummies gas drops.

I'm thinking gas is a pretty common thing amongst newborns, but I'll be asking her Pedi about it at her appointment next Tuesday.

Bum Cannon

Today, I went to change the little chook...after a long nap. She was being uncharacteristically placid on the changing table. She only had a wet nappy, so I was lifting her little bottom to slip on a new nappy..and leaning down to kiss her adorable little cheeks (face people! face!), when....

Nell launched a bum cannon full of shit down the front of my shirt and with such force that it travelled at least three feet behind me to splatter on the wall/fireplace/nappy bin.

I was stunned....and looked at D incredulously.

I can not believe such a little bottom has such ferocious force!

A whole new blog!

I'm blogging mad! I hope to use this blog to tell you all about my favourite topic, that is...NELL!

I'm keeping this apart from her photo blog, but may include a photo of her here and there.

I hope to use this to post snippets about her, to help me remember every single one of these precious moments.
